A dialogue focusing on sacred texts of the traditions and how they have promoted and inhibited efforts for peace through history will be presented by Rabbi Alan Cohen, director of Inter-religious Affairs of the Jewish Community Relations Bureau/American Jewish Committee (JCRB/AJC), and the Reverend Scott Meyers of the Westport Presbyterian Church. This interfaith panel is co-sponsored by Avila University, Jewish Community Relations Bureau/American Jewish Committee and Westport Presbyterian Church. The event is part of peace week activities. Sunday, October 3 @ 2 p.m. Peace Walk. The Kansas City Interfaith Youth Alliance is planning the event with Let the Children Play for Peace. Start at the Islamic Center of Johnson County, to Beth Shalom on Lamar, to Church of the Resurrection. Wednesday, November 10, Vital Conversations Abraham: A Journey to the Heart of Three Faiths by Bruce Feiler. Mid Continent Public Library, 6060 North Chestnut Avenue, Gladstone, MO, 1 p.m.

Abraham tells the powerful story of one man's search for the shared ancestor of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Traveling through war zones, braving violence at religious sites, and seeking out faith leaders, Bruce Feiler uncovers the defining yet divisive role that Abraham plays for half the world's believers.
