Voicing the Spiritual Self: The Interfaith Language of Doubt and Belief
The Writers Place is pleased to present this fourth annual reading as part of the Festival of Faiths. In this multifaceted event, a diverse group of Kansas City authors will share, in poetry and prose, their inner pilgrimages. Featuring a broad spectrum of spiritual geography, these writers will invite you into their personal stories of doubt and/or belief. Jabulani Leffal, host of KCUR’s Central Standard, will emcee the event. Featured readers include: Robert Brumet, Bob Chrisman, Sofiana Olivera and Nadirah Angail. Linda Salvay-will perform original music and Jeri Birdsall will offer chanting and drumming.
“Sharing personal stories connects people at a deep human level,” says Donna Ziegenhorn, Steering Committee, Festival of Faiths. “Our spiritual stories are powerful and dramatic. They can transport us to another person's inner terrain -- very different than our own, but amazingly familiar at the same time.” “This reading adds an important dimension to the Festival of Faiths,” says Mary Bunten, President of the Board, The Writers Place. “The Writers Place exists to support the creative life. Such spiritual poems, stories and music make our inner lives visible.”
